Fast and Furious

It has been one hell of a week. Both of my main jobs are slammed with work, which means a very busy Eva. I will spare you the sob story, but needless to say I am barely finding time to sleep a few hours a night.

I apologize for the quick post, but wanted to update you on a few things and get some feedback :)

First off, Reno has a snotty nose AGAIN. Rachel noticed it last night, and when Becky went to grab him for his pedicure today she noticed he had thick, white snot coming out of one nostril. Awesome. She started him back on 5 days of antibiotics and we will see how that goes. Last time it cleared up pretty quickly (2 weeks), so hopefully we can knock this out quickly and avoid infecting others (ie Granite). As a result, we held off on Reno's shots until his immune system is back to normal. I hate that I am so far away when all this is going on and I can't give my sick boy any TLC :(

Which leads me to the next point... I have pretty much exhausted all viable options for boarding. As I said before, there are few places in my area that do pasture board (full runs about $400-$700). So I have more or less seen everything that could be financially feasible. I had a long conversation with the barn manager of Barn #1 last night. Barn #1 was the one that was 12/12, nice big stall, co-op, big pastures, good facility. Downfalls were no lights (although 1 pasture has lights so could ride in there) and I have to pick stall everyday. The manager and I discussed and I explained my lifestyle and that I would have concerns about making it out everyday. I also travel at least 1x a month on weekends, so I wanted to make sure that could remain a possibility. Results from that convo are as follows: could trade off some of the stall cleanings between the 3 of us and she was totally ok with doing weekends, as she works a lot during the week. So basically it seems that they are pretty willing to work with me and my schedule. So.... Do I go for it? Do I keep looking? At some point I just have to pull the trigger. It is by far the best place I have been, but not sure if I should keep my options open on the odd chance something better comes along?

  2. Haha, I think Rachel knows a lot about this one.

Def go for it. If it doesn't work out, you'll have to look for plan B...

And in the middle of writing that, I thought this: Do you have time to spend with Reno right now? Since your schedule sounds super-insane, maybe it's better to leave him pasture boarded with a buddy for a few months while you finish up school.

I don't know. Your call. I'd want my ponyface as close as I could get him/her, though.

  3. Sprinkler- It was my initial thought to leave him there, as I have such crazy time constraints. But I hate that he is so far away. I want him close so that I can actually spend some time with him. Rachel and I were just discussing what will have to go when he gets here in order to make some more time. Its a never-ending puzzle!

Also, I got the video in the mail yesterday :) Thanks!! Can't wait to watch it!

  4. Go for it. If something better comes along, then move there :) Win/Win!

  5. i agree moving him is not the end all. If you like it stick with it if you don't then try somewhere else!

  6. coming from someone whose horse is far away..it sucks. I dunno, I have thought about doing chores, etc but by the time I drive out there and back, I loose two hours just in driving, so do I want to loose more in chores? Tough choices..I'm not much help but whatever u decide, it's never permanent so you can alter/change it as you need to :)
