The good and the bad

First off, I can't say enough how thankful I am for your advice. It is a frustrating thing to go through and it is so nice to have outside perspective on the issues. A lot of the time it is hard for me to see the situation objectively, because I am so invested in Reno emotionally and financially.

I got in last night from visiting my family and welcomed this adorable bundle of joy into my home.

It took him about 20 minutes to lay claim to my room and spent the rest of the night playing and cuddling on the bed. I did find that kittens apparently are not big sleepers. I got next to no sleep as the result of several jingly toys that were being circulated around the room. Those may have to be put in a special hiding place tonight...

Gryff is way cute and has been a purrrfect kitty so far (fingers crossed). I'm hoping maybe we can make it through the first week or so without having to replace any furniture.

At work this morning I got a call from BM concerning Reno's eye. It doesn't seem to be getting any better, despite a few rounds of bute and antibiotics. He now has nasal discharge in both nostrils as well, so BM thought it would be best to go ahead and call the vet. Since it isn't an "emergency," I elected to stay at work instead of driving out there. I hate not being there, but I have to be a bit careful about taking off suddenly at a new job. Plus, I figure I will need the extra money to pay off the vet bill that is coming my way. The vet should be there sometime soon, so I am anxiously waiting for a call. Fingers crossed it is nothing serious!

  1. UPDATE: Vet came out and said the eye looked fine, but seems to have some sort of bump underneath the eyelid. Thinks it is allergy/trauma related and gave him meds to treat. Thinks nasal discharge is also related, as he has no signs of a resp. infcection. Good news all around :)

  2. I'm glad Reno's ok. Calling the vet is never fun. (I don't know about you, but I'm always expecting the worst when the bill comes...)

Your kitty is cute from here. I'm not a big fan of kittens up close for the precise reason you mentioned: they don't sleep. ;-)

  3. Sprinkler- He is 5mo so hopefully he will age quickly ;)

The vet bill wouldn't be so bad if my car didn't decide it needed over $100 worth of new parts this week as well... But hey, its life i guess
